Highlands Pediatric Dentistry Holiday Gift Ideas!

Posted .

It’s that wonderful time of year again, full of snow angels and snowball battles, cozy nights at home with hot cocoa, and let’s not forget all the cakes, cookies and candy canes!  It’s more important than ever during the holiday months to make sure your little ones are keeping up with their oral health.  We’ve got some great gift ideas below to help keep their teeth merry and bright!

Great Gift Ideas

    • The Oral-B Rechargeable Electric Toothbrush for Kids:  We love this brush!  Its soft bristles are perfect for little one’s little teeth, with a small head it fits back to those pesky molar grooves, and its big handle is great for small hands to grip. Because its head rotates and isn’t ultrasonic (which can tickle kiddos a little too much), we find it makes for a much happier brushing time at home.  With all the fun characters to choose from, we’re sure you’ll find one that brings out your child’s biggest smile!

    • Fun flossers:  Flossing can be a struggle for kiddos!  Either you’re trying to get your hands with floss back to those little molars, or you’re trying to teach your little one to wrap, thread and pop “spicy” string between their teeth.  This is where we recommend handled flossers for little fingers.  You can find them in fun designs like koalas and giraffes, and in flavors like birthday cake, citrus or bubblegum.  As teeth come in and get closer together, flossing can make a huge difference in establishing cavity-free dental visits!

    • Xylitol Candy:  Did you know you can give your kids candy that is actually GOOD for their teeth?  Crazy!  Xylitol is a natural sweetener that may help prevent cavities by targeting cavity-causing bacteria and lowering the pH in the mouth.  The Zolli brand is zero-sugar, gluten-free, KETO, allergy-friendly, nut-free, vegan and kosher – they’ve covered everything! They make pops, Gummeez, Caramelz, Drops, Ball Popz, Zaffi Taffy and more.

  • Books on Brushing:  There are so many great books out there that can help teach your little ones why brushing is so important!  We love the routine of “Brush-Book-Bed”, and what a good way to set your kiddo up for a lifetime of good oral hygiene by reading to them all about it in fun ways.  Ready, Set, Brush! Why do I need to Brush my Teeth?,  and the Brush Your Teeth Please! Pop-up books are a few of our faves.  And if you’d rather shop local, 32nd Avenue Books and Westside Books are great places to start!

Happy Holidays!

All of the above are stocking-friendly, easy to find, and a great alternative to sugary sweets.  We wish you luck in getting all your last-minute gifts and managing the season of sugarbugs.  We here at Highlands Pediatric Dentistry are always happy to help with any questions about helping your kiddos brush, as well as able to offer all the tips and tricks to have successful oral hygiene routines with fewer tears.  Happy Holidays to you and yours!
